UFC’s First Female Commentator Laura Sanko Fires Back After Gendered Criticism

Pioneering as the first female commentator for the UFC, Laura Sanko was recently in the center of a heated dispute that was started by Jamie Varner, the former lightweight champion of the WEC. 

A contentious debate on Sanko’s skills and suitability for the position was sparked by Varner’s criticism of her remarks.

Sanko replied to Varner on social media by reminiscing about their mutual MMA background. She talked about how they had met earlier, warming up for a fight on the same card, and how their paths had crossed paths in the sport.

In her reply, Sanko highlighted her vast experience in mixed martial arts, which included winning a professional match at Invicta FC 4 in January 2013. Her four wins and one loss in her amateur MMA career further demonstrate her competence and determination in the cage.
