Virginia Brewing Company Launching New Beer Called Saturday Morning, Having Flavors Reminiscent of Lucky Charms, Magically Ridiculous

A Virginia brewing company wants to take you on a mental magic carpet ride back to your childhood, when you scrambled out of bed Saturday mornings to watch cartoons and sift through a box of Lucky Charms to find the colorful marshmallow-y goodness.

Smartmouth Brewing Company is launching an IPA this Saturday, March 2, called โ€œSaturday Morning.โ€ The brew is hyped as having flavors reminiscent of the iconic breakfast cereal. (https://subta.com/) Actual toasted marshmallows and dehydrated marshmallow bits were used in the mash, in a description on the companyโ€™s launch announcement. The beer was also hopped and dry-hopped with Galaxy and Calypso hops.

Brewery spokesman Chris Neikirk said that, while the beer is not marketed to children, it is โ€œa beer evoking nostalgia in adults who remember days when Saturday mornings were a time that you sat around watching cartoons and playing games,โ€ in an interview with USA Today.

Neikirk also described the 6.6 percent ABV beer as having a note โ€œsweet and citrus, with orange and pear aromas. It has a soft pillowy body with a slight cereal taste.โ€

The beer will be available on draft or in cans at the brewerโ€™s Virginia Beach and Norfolk locations, and distributed throughout Virginia to limited restaurants, bars and specialty bottle shops.
