DEERFIELD BEACH, FL – Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives are investigating the death of two people found in a Deerfield Beach home Wednesday morning.
According to police, at approximately 9:40 a.m., employees from a doctor’s office went to the home, located in the 400 block of Northeast 39th Street, to check on their co-worker who did not show up for work Wednesday. They looked into the house through an open door, saw one of the victims and then called 911. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and fire rescue personnel responded to the scene and confirmed a 41-year-old woman and 24-year-old man were deceased.
Homicide and crime scene detectives are investigating the deaths and spent the remainder of the day collecting evidence, documenting the crime scene, canvassing the area and questioning neighbors.
Detectives said the woman lived at the home alone.
According to WPLG Local 10 news reporter Liane Morejon who spoke with neighbors at the scene, some heard shots fired around 10PM Tuesday evening but police have not yet confirmed either the relationship of the two dead or if one of them is the suspect (murder-suicide), leaving the potential that it could be a double-murder and their killer could still be sought.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the case to contact BSO Homicide Det. John Curcio at (954) 321-4212 or call Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at (954) 493-TIPS (8477) or online at browardcrimestoppers.org.
UPDATE: On Sep 30, 2019 Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives released the names of the victims of what has been determined to be a double homicide; Jessica Aponte, 41, of Deerfield Beach and Luis Alberto Lopez Sanchez, 24, of Pompano Beach where both deceased. Detectives said Aponte lived at the home alone. The investigation into the murders continues.
