Detectives Investigating Homicide In Neighborhood Near Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives are investigating an early morning shooting that left a man dead in an unincorporated neighborhood near Fort Lauderdale.

According to police, just before 12:30 a.m. Friday, deputies dispatched to the 2700 block of Northwest Ninth Street found 38-year-old Channing Howard had been shot and was unresponsive. He was discovered lying on a grassy area adjacent to the roadway at 2721 N.W. Ninth St. and sustained a gunshot wound. 

As homicide and crime scene detectives responded to process the scene and speak to neighbors and the victim’s family members, Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded and pronounced Howard dead at the scene.
