Miami-Dade Police Investigating Shooting in Tropical Park, Olympia Heights

UPDATE 3/6/2020: Detectives have identified Brian Hopiher, 21, of Miami, Florida, as the subject in this case. He was arrested and charged with murder and aggravated battery.

OLYMPIA HEIGHTS, FL – The Miami-Dade Police Department, Kendall District is investigating a shooting that left one man injured. The incident took place at approximately 5:55 p.m. Friday at 7900 Bird Road in Miami, Florida.

According to investigators, a couple was sitting inside a white Nissan Crossover that was parked in Tropical Park. The preliminary information reveals that an unknown male approached the vehicle from the passenger side, and attempted to open the front passenger door but the door was locked. 

The subject then produced a firearm and opened fire through the front passenger window, striking the male in the chest area. He then fled in an unknown direction. Police are considering the suspect armed and dangerous.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported the victim to Kendall Regional Trauma Center, where he is listed in critical but stable condition. The female in the driver’s seat was not injured.
