Miami Man Killed In Pompano Beach Crash

POMPANO BEACH, FL – Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating a crash that left a pedestrian dead in Pompano Beach. According to police, shortly before 9 p.m. on March 3, a Fort Lauderdale police officer was driving southbound on North Powerline Road in the far right thru lane. The officer was driving into work in his marked Dodge Charger. 

As he proceeded through the green traffic signal at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, the pedestrian crossed the northbound lanes on North Powerline Road and continued across the southbound lanes along the south side of the intersection. The front of the police officer’s vehicle struck the pedestrian just south of the intersection.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded to the crash and transported the pedestrian to Broward Health North where he passed away. The driver remained on scene. The investigation is ongoing.
