MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL – The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau, is conducting a death investigation as a result of a plane crash. According to investigators, a small plane was traveling northbound over Collins Avenue when it crashed into an SUV that was traveling southbound on the Haulover Inlet Bridge. The plane then became engulfed in fire and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue was summoned to respond.
Once firefighters extinguished the fire, they discovered a deceased person inside. The preliminary information reveals that there were three occupants in the plane, the pilot and two passengers. Two of the occupants were transported to Ryder Trauma Center and Aventura Trauma Center and their condition is unknown. The SUV had three occupants, a female driver and two toddlers. All the occupants in the SUV were transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital to receive a medical evaluation.
The details into the plane crash are being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration and the investigation continues.
