NAPA, CA – The husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was arrested on Saturday in Napa, California for allegedly driving while drunk, police say.

According to the Napa County Criminal Justice Network, Paul Pelosi, 82, was arrested at 11:44 p.m. PT after he reportedly wrecked his brand-new Porche sports car by crashing into another vehicle at an intersection.

Pelosi was subsequently booked at 4 a.m. on Sunday on two misdemeanors- driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving with a blood alcohol content level of 0.08 percent or higher. His bail was set at $5,000, officials say; he was released at 7:26 a.m. on Sunday.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

At the time of her husband’s release, Nanci Pelosi was set to receive an honorary degree from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, where she also delivered the commencement address to the graduating class that day.

Drew Hammill, spokesperson for the House speaker, said that the House Speaker would not be issuing any comments on her husband’s drunken driving charges.

“The Speaker will not be commenting on this private matter which occurred while she was on the East Coast,” Hammill said.
