OCALA, FL – On Thursday, June 9, Ocala Police Detectives arrested Brandon Crews, 37, and Jessica Lynn Long, 35 for grand theft from Rural King, located at 2999 NW 10th St. in Ocala. According to detectives, multiple times this month, Ocala police officers responded to the Rural King regarding expensive items being stolen.
The thefts included a motorbike, valued at $800 on June 3, three motorbikes, valued at $800 each on June 5, an ATV, valued at $1,600 and two push mowers, valued at $400 each on June 8, and a zero-turn mower, valued at $3,850 on June 9. The total cost of the stolen merchandise was $9,450.
Through video surveillance and other investigative efforts, detectives were able to identify two of the three suspects involved as Brandon Crews and Jessica Lynn Long. Another unknown male was involved in each of these thefts but has not yet been identified. Also, two different trucks were alternately used.ย
On June 9, detectives were able to locate Crews and Long learning that they were staying at the Royal Inn Motel, located at 2900 S Pine Avenue. Inside their room were the two push mowers from Rural King. Both Crews and Long were taken to police headquarters for questioning.
Ultimately, Crews was arrested for multiple felony charges, including grand theft, five counts, and four counts of burglary. Long was arrested for one count of grand theft. Only the two push mowers were recovered.
