WASHINGTON, D.C. – According to a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll, the disapproval rating of President Joe Biden has hit yet another all-time high as Americans continue to struggle with skyrocketing inflation, record-breaking prices at the gas pump, and the threat of a potential recession in the near future.

Biden’s approval ratings have been shrinking over the course of the last year but they have never been as low as they are currently. While former President Donald Trump was one of the lowest-rated presidents in terms of approval numbers during his tenure in the White House, Biden has since overtaken him in that regard at the parallel stage of his presidency.

The poll, conducted from June 10-13 among 1,541 registered voters, shows that 56 percent of Americans disapprove of the Biden’s performance in the White House, while those who approve of his performance are at a mere 39 percent; those respective numbers were at 53 percent and 42 percent just three weeks ago.

In addition, the poll also indicated that if a presidential election was held today, a majority of people – 44 percent – would vote for Trump, as opposed to 42 percent who would vote for Biden.

This is the first time that a Yahoo News/YouGov poll has shown Trump overtaking Biden among voters in this regard – one year prior, Biden was ahead of Trump by 9 percentage points – which signals the continued atrophy of the current Commander-In-Chief’s standing with the American people.

The majority of those polled say that inflation – which is at its highest level in 40 years – is the most important issue to them in terms of the upcoming November 2022 midterm elections by a wide margin. In addition, 61 percent of voters disapprove of the president’s handling of the economy, and Republicans are favored by a 15-point margin to do a better job of managing the nation’s economy over Democrats.

These numbers should prove very worrying to Democrats leading into the midterm elections, with many anticipating that the party may very well lose their razor-thin majorities in the Senate and Congress when all is said and done.
