WASHINGTON, D.C. – Former President Donald Trump issued a statement this week on his Truth Social platform in response to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s comments on Joe Rogan’s podcast last Thursday that Facebook had temporarily limited the spread of the New York Post’s story about Hunter Biden’s laptop in their news feeds before the 2020 election.
While on Rogan’s podcast, Zuckerberg noted that the Post’s story “fit the pattern” of potential “Russian propaganda” that the FBI had warned Facebook officials about; the authenticity of the story was initially questioned, although it was later revealed to be completely true.
But just prior to the 2020 election – due to the article’s controversy at the time – Facebook officials made the decision to still allow users to share it, but temporarily limited how often it would show up in user’s news feeds, preventing many people from actually being able to read the report.
Trump, who has repeatedly claimed over the past two years that he lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden due to “widespread voter fraud,” wasted no time on reacting to Zuckerberg’s admission, taking to his Truth Social platform to demand that he either be put right back into the White House, or that an instant do-over election be held.
“So now it comes out, conclusively, that the FBI BURIED THE HUNTER BIDEN LAPTOP STORY BEFORE THE ELECTION knowing that, if they didn’t, ‘Trump would have easily won the 2020 Presidential Election,’” he said. “This is massive FRAUD & ELECTION INTERFERENCE at a level never seen before in our Country. REMEDY: Declare the rightful winner or, and this would be the minimal solution, declare the 2020 Election irreparably compromised and have a new Election, immediately! (https://hairrestore.com/) ”
Meta – the parent company of Facebook – tweeted the day after Zuckerberg’s interview that the Hunter Biden laptop story was not specifically targeted, but merely appeared to adhere to propaganda guidelines that the company was warned about by the FBI.
“As we’ve said, nothing about the Hunter Biden laptop story is new,” they said. “The FBI shared general warnings about foreign interference – nothing specific about Hunter Biden.”
