WASHINGTON, DC – Now that Republicans have captured the majority in the House of Representatives – albeit a very slight one – they are planning on using their new legislative and oversight power to launch investigations into President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, among other individuals.

In an interview on Fox News, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy – who will likely serve as the new House Speaker, although he is facing opposition from others in his own party for the role – spoke about possible GOP investigations that may be launched, including Biden’s botched troop withdrawal from Afghanistan, the migrant crisis at the southern border, and Hunter Biden’s business dealings, and his father’s alleged involvement in them.

House Republican Reps. James Comer and Jim Jordan on Thursday held a press conference where they claimed that Joe Biden was “directly involved” in his son’s purportedly illegal overseas business affairs, citing whistleblower accounts that the Bidens “flourished and became millionaires by simply offering access to the family” to foreign entities.

“Was Joe Biden directly involved with Hunter Biden’s business deals, and is he compromised? That’s our investigation,” Comer said.

As for other investigations that Republicans may be spearheading with their newfound power, McCarthy stated that they will likely include the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic; Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ job performance; and the potential that there could be terrorists infiltrating the United States via the southern border, masquerading as undocumented immigrants.

“What do they have planned? Who are they talking to, and why are they here? That is just the start,” McCarthy said.

However, despite now touting a majority in the House, it appears that it will be by such a slim margin that the GOP’s ultimate power will be limited overall, especially in light of Democrats retaining control of the Senate after the midterm elections.
