WASHINGTON, D.C. –  The White House issued a response on Thursday to the news that Republican Reps., fresh off of retaking the majority in the House after midterm elections, will be launching a litany of investigations into the Biden Administration, starting first with President Joe Biden and his beleaguered son, Hunter Biden.

Ian Sams, a spokesman for the White House Counsel’s office, said Thursday, that the GOP efforts to probe the business dealings of Hunter Biden – and how they may be linked to his father – were driven by long-disproven “conspiracy theories.”

“Instead of working with President Biden to address issues important to the American people, like lower costs, congressional Republicans’ top priority is to go after President Biden with politically motivated attacks chock full of long-debunked conspiracy theories,” Sams said. “President Biden is not going to let these political attacks distract him from focusing on Americans’ priorities, and we hope congressional Republicans will join us in tackling them instead of wasting time and resources on political revenge.”

The response follows a Thursday press conference where House Republican Reps. James Comer (KY) and Jim Jordan (OH) claimed that Joe Biden was “directly involved” in his son’s purportedly illegal overseas business affairs, citing whistleblower accounts that the Bidens “flourished and became millionaires by simply offering access to the family” to foreign entities.

“Was Joe Biden directly involved with Hunter Biden’s business deals, and is he compromised? That’s our investigation,” Comer said, announcing an impending House probe into Hunter Biden’s – and, by proxy, Joe Biden’s – alleged illicit dealings with foreign governments.

Evidence that the GOP investigation will utilize are said to include Hunter Biden’s infamous “laptop from hell” as well as whistleblower accounts, which Republicans claim establish the Biden family’s “decade-long pattern of influence peddling, national security risks, and political cover-ups.”

President Biden has previously maintained that he has taken no part in his son’s business ventures.
