A massive search is underway as law enforcement agencies work tirelessly to locate Robert Card, the individual at the center of a police chase following a tragic mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine.

Card, a US Army Reserve petroleum supply specialist with over two decades of military service, is now the prime suspect in a horrifying incident that claimed the lives of 18 people and left 13 others injured on Wednesday night.

Card, who holds the rank of sergeant 1st class, enlisted in the US Army Reserve in December 2002.

Despite his lengthy military service, he had no prior overseas deployments, according to information provided by the Army.

State and local authorities first identified Card as a person of interest in the shooting, which occurred in two separate locations.

They released images of a bearded man wearing a brown hoodie and jeans, holding what appeared to be a semi-automatic rifle in a firing position.

The subsequent investigation has shifted Card’s status from a person of interest to the primary suspect in the case.

Following the shootings, Card fled the scenes, prompting a large-scale chase involving hundreds of state and local officers, along with more than 80 FBI agents

Law enforcement officials have issued an arrest warrant for Card on eight counts of murder, a number expected to rise as the identities of all victims are confirmed.

Robert Card, a 40-year-old resident of Bowdoin, Maine, near Lewiston, is described as standing 5’11” tall and weighing 230 pounds.
