China Government Sets Vision for Advancing Humanoid Robotics by 2025

By outlining specific targets for 2025 and 2027, the ministry aims to establish China as a global leader in humanoid robotics. The 2025 target emphasizes establishing a comprehensive innovation system for humanoid robots, focusing on critical breakthroughs in essential components such as “brains, cerebellum, and limbs.”
Moreover, the plan envisions the production of these robots to meet advanced international standards, with mass production becoming a reality. The goal is for these humanoid robots to play a pivotal role in diverse sectors, ranging from manufacturing to various livelihood services.
The plan also aims to foster globally influential ecological enterprises and nurture specialized small and medium-sized businesses, thereby creating a robust ecosystem for the sector. The subsequent target for 2027 is to significantly enhance the technological innovation capabilities of humanoid robots, establishing a reliable industry supply chain with comprehensive strength and international competitiveness. According to Wang Peng, an associate research fellow at the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences, the issuance of this guidance represents a crucial step in the right direction for China.
