The chair of Florida’s Republican Party, Christian Ziegler, is embroiled in controversy following a woman’s allegation of rape against him.
Despite calls for his resignation, Ziegler staunchly maintains his innocence and has adamantly refused to step down from his position.
Ziegler, in an email addressed to state Republicans, vehemently asserted his innocence while sidestepping specifics of the accusation that has rattled conservative circles in Florida. His wife, Bridget Ziegler, co-founder of the conservative group Moms for Liberty, stands by him amid the allegations, attributing the claims to their vocal political involvement.
Governor Ron DeSantis, while acknowledging the presumption of innocence, urged Ziegler to resign, cautioning against the distraction his situation might pose to the Republican Party.
However, Ziegler remains resolute in his decision to retain his position, emphasizing his commitment to continuing his role despite the ongoing scrutiny.
Although no formal charges have been filed against Ziegler, the Sarasota Police continue their investigation into the allegations made by a woman who has known him for two decades.

The complainant stated in police affidavits for search warrants that in October, Ziegler forced his way into her residence and sexually attacked her.
Ziegler’s response, delivered via email, omitted his previous statements to detectives acknowledging consensual sex with the accuser and disregarded his wife’s admission of involvement in group sex with the woman over a year ago.
Despite the mounting controversy, the Zieglers have remained reticent, declining further comments when approached for clarification.
LGBTQ+ activists and Democrats have taken issue with the disclosure of Florida police affidavits showing the Zieglers engaged in group sexual activities.
