California Resident Shocked to Find Alleged Serial Burglar Wendy Wilkinson Hiding in Closet Upon Return

A routine return home turned into a nightmare for Brittney Heinzman, a 35-year-old resident of the luxury Skyloft Apartments complex in Irvine, California, on December 1. 

What should have been a simple homecoming after a week away transformed into a chilling encounter with a ‘serial burglar’ armed with an unexpected weapon a pizza cutter.

Heinzman’s shock was palpable when she stumbled upon her ransacked apartment, with her front door left ajar. 

California conducted an additional investigation and found a spooky figure, subsequently identified as 43-year-old Wendy Wilkinson, hunched down and holding a pizza cutter and culinary items in her bedroom closet. “She just looked at me like a deer in headlights and I just screamed, ‘Get out! get out!'” Heinzman recalled, looking dazed and afraid.

The arrest that followed unearthed a disturbing past for Wilkinson, with an extensive record of robberies. Astonishingly, Wilkinson was a neighbor to Heinzman, adding an unsettling dimension to the ordeal.

California’s Safety and Caution

Heinzman’s courage in the face of danger didn’t falter. Despite her fright, she promptly alerted the authorities and pursued the suspect alongside a friend within the complex, leading to the capture of Wilkinson.

The extent of Wilkinson’s crimes was revealed by California Police investigations, which estimated that the stolen goods, which included high-end items, gadgets, credit cards, and personal identity, were worth over $30,000. 

Moreover, it was revealed that Wilkinson had possibly trespassed into Heinzman’s residence multiple times during her absence.

The incident has left Heinzman traumatized, prompting her decision to relocate. She lamented the invasion of her privacy, stating, “To have somebody go through your every drawer, your every cabinet, take your passport, take everything personal. You’re just left with so many questions.”

The swift actions of the Irvine Police Department in apprehending Wilkinson were met with widespread appreciation from Irvine residents, reaffirming the city’s reputation as one of the safest in the nation.

Even though Irvine has a stellar safety record overall, this unsettling occurrence serves as a reminder of the value of community safety and caution, reminding citizens of California to be on the lookout for potential threats and exercise caution.
