Recent data from a Pew Research Center poll released on Thursday paints a grim picture for President Joe Biden, showing his job approval rating has hit a new low at a mere 33%.
This figure, the lowest recorded since Biden assumed office at the age of 81, signifies a 2-point decline from Pew Research’s last assessment in June.
While the President’s support among registered Republicans or those leaning towards the GOP remained stagnant at a paltry 7%, there was a notable decline in approval among Democrats, dropping 4 points to 61% from June’s figures.
Alarmingly, Biden’s job rating among Democrats has seen a significant 12-point plunge since October 2022 and remains “relatively low among most major demographic groups,” according to the pollster.
Within specific racial demographics, Biden faces considerable dissatisfaction. Only about 52% of black Americans expressed approval of his performance, while Hispanics and Asians rated even lower at 33% and 37%, respectively, in favor of his handling of the presidency.
Biden’s Handling of Critical Issues
The report shed light on the public’s dwindling confidence in Biden’s ability to navigate critical issues, including economic policies and immigration.
A striking majority of Americans exhibit minimal or no confidence in their capacity to address these concerns. Notably, the survey highlighted a staggering lack of faith in Biden’s capability to unite the nation, with a mere 24% expressing confidence in this aspect.
The responses from 5,203 adults surveyed between Nov. 27 and Dec. 3 revealed a prevailing sentiment of skepticism regarding Biden’s competence.
Confidence levels in his economic policies stood at 36%, slightly higher than the 32% confidence in his handling of immigration issues. However, both figures underline significant public apprehension about his governance.
This substantial decline in approval ratings across various demographic segments reflects growing concerns and a lack of confidence in Biden’s leadership.
With such widespread dissatisfaction, the President faces a pressing challenge to regain public trust and address the nation’s mounting apprehensions.
