Tragic devastation struck Gaza as Israeli airstrikes on Christmas Eve resulted in a horrifying toll of casualties, leaving scores dead and numerous families shattered. 

The heart-wrenching attacks unfolded in the al-Maghazi refugee camp and Khan Younis, marking the night as one of the deadliest in the ongoing conflict.

Palestinian authorities in Gaza confirmed at least 70 individuals lost their lives in the airstrike on al-Maghazi. 

Additionally, another 23 people perished in the assault on Khan Younis, propelling the overnight death toll to surpass 100. The strikes ravaged homes, claiming the lives of 12 women and seven children, amplifying the human tragedy.

Ashraf al-Qidra, a spokesperson for the Palestinian health ministry, described the airstrikes as a “massacre,” fearing that the death toll might rise further. Chilling footage depicted the aftermath, with injured individuals, including children, being rushed to al-Aqsa Hospital. Outside, bodies lay in body bags, a grim testament to the night’s horrors.

Amid international calls for a ceasefire, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to intensify the Gaza ground offensive in the coming days. Netanyahu, addressing his Likud Party, declared that the war was far from over and affirmed plans for an extended battle.

Amidst the chaos, a heartbroken father shared his anguish after losing his daughter and grandchildren in the strike. Fleeing from the north and seeking safety in central Gaza, their lives were tragically claimed when their building collapsed under the airstrikes. He lamented the targeting of civilians, emphasizing the lack of safe havens.

The Israeli military, while acknowledging the incidents, stated they were reviewing the circumstances. Tragically, further casualties were reported as ten members of another family were killed in a separate strike in the Jabalia camp.

As the Israel-Gaza conflict enters its 12th week, the grim reality unfolds with escalating casualties on both sides. Israel reported the loss of 14 soldiers amidst intense fighting, highlighting the dire circumstances and ongoing clashes in Gaza.
