California Father Faces Charges After Son Uses Stolen Firearm in Fatal Shooting

A terrifying series of events occurred in California’s Sacramento County when a 10-year-old child was shot and killed in a terrible occurrence that was allegedly carried out by another 10-year-old. 

The chilling event led to the arrest of a father-son duo, Arkete Davis, 53, and his unnamed son, on grim charges following the fatal incident that unfolded on a Saturday.

Authorities responded to distressing reports of a shooting in Sacramento County, discovering a young boy gravely injured and bleeding from the head and neck. 

Witnesses at the scene swiftly directed deputies to a nearby apartment where the alleged culprits had sought refuge after the shooting, leading to the detention of an adult and two juveniles without resistance. Subsequent investigations revealed a disturbing sequence of events. 

The detained 10-year-old, son of Arkete Davis, purportedly accessed a stolen firearm from his father’s vehicle while retrieving cigarettes. Shockingly, the juvenile then brandished the weapon, boasting about his father’s possession of a gun, before tragically shooting the victim and fleeing to the nearby apartment.

The gun was found by California law enforcement after they carefully searched a nearby dustbin, where it was thought Davis had hidden the weapon to hide evidence. The seriousness of the accusations against Davis increased upon closer examination, which disclosed his legal ban from possessing or owning a firearm.

Arkete Davis now faces a slew of felony firearm charges, in addition to accusations of child endangerment and accessory to the crime. Meanwhile, his son, held in a juvenile detention facility, confronts the weighty charge of murder.

Davis is still being held on a hefty $500,000 bail while the judicial proceedings in California are ongoing. 

Investigations also revealed that the gun used in this unfortunate incident had been reported stolen back in 2017, highlighting the need for responsible firearm handling and increased precautions to prevent these kinds of tragic incidents.
