Samsung, a tech giant, has laid out its ambitious blueprint for the year ahead, focusing on technological innovation and adaptability to secure a competitive edge in the global tech arena. 

The company disclosed its strategic goals in a memo addressed to its employees, signed jointly by its co-CEOs, Han Jong-hee and Kyung Kye-hyun.

In this communiqué, Han Jong-hee, who serves as the Vice Chairman and heads the DX Division encompassing diverse business sectors, emphasized the imperative to bolster technological supremacy and core competencies

His co-CEO, Kyung Kye-hyun, who leads the semiconductor business division and presides over SAIT, Samsung’s R&D unit, emphasized the need to widen the technological gap with competitors.

Their directive underscored the priority of enhancing fundamental competitiveness, particularly focusing on ‘super-gap technologies,’ stressing the significance of technological superiority. 

Acknowledging the struggles faced by the semiconductor business in 2023, they urged the division to harness a technological advantage.

Furthermore, the joint memo articulated a customer-centric approach for mobile, home appliances, and software divisions, emphasizing performance and quality. 

The executives highlighted the importance of proactive adaptation to industry changes, citing the surge in artificial intelligence (AI) utilization and the expanding eco-friendly trends.

The memo also called for a revolutionary shift in work methodologies, advocating the application of generative AI to redefine device experiences and foster innovative eco-friendly products. Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S24 series promises a host of new AI features and increased use of recycled materials.

Following a challenging financial year in 2023, where Samsung faced a substantial decline in sales revenue and operating profit, these strategic initiatives are aimed at steering the company toward a more prosperous future. 

Samsung’s full-year earnings report for 2023, anticipated later this month, will shed light on the impact of these transformative strategies and their potential to reshape Samsung’s fortunes in the tech landscape.
