On May 30, 2022, a terrifying event occurred at an apartment complex in Florida Orlando that led to the murder of Lashuan Rodgers, 41, who was allegedly shot by a 10-year-old girl.
Lakrisha Isaac, the mother of the young girl, now faces charges and a trial date set for April 29, as confirmed by court documents from the Orange County Court House.
Isaac, 31, is charged with manslaughter, culpable negligence, child neglect, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and aggravated assault with a firearm in connection with the tragic events that transpired at the Jernigan Gardens apartments.
As stated in the police report from Florida, the situation intensified when Isaac, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, became involved in a heated dispute with Rodgers, ultimately resulting in a physical altercation.
After the initial scuffle was broken up, Rodgers allegedly attempted to approach Isaac again. It was then that Isaac’s 10-year-old daughter purportedly fired the fatal shots at Rodgers, claiming Rodgers had struck her mother.
Florida Police Arrive to Find Rodgers in Critical Condition
Rodgers had a gunshot wound to the head and was seriously ill when Florida Police arrived on the scene. They tried resuscitation, but at the Orlando Regional Medical Center, they declared her dead.
Details emerged from witnesses and police interrogation of the 10-year-old, who revealed grabbing a firearm from Isaac’s acquaintance during the altercation.
The girl admitted her anger towards the conflict between Isaac and Rodgers, citing threats made by Rodgers against her family as the catalyst. She confessed to shooting Rodgers, acknowledging the fatal consequences of her actions.
The firearm was later taken away by the adult involved before fleeing the scene with Isaac and the young girl. Isaac, exercising her constitutional rights, chose legal representation before any police questioning.
