A pedestrian in Southern California was hit by three cars in a devastating hit-and-run, resulting in his death in a horrifying incident that happened late on Friday night.

The terrible incident in California happened at around 11:45 pm at a crossroads roughly 20 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles, according to a press release issued by the local police department.

The victim, a likely Hispanic man in his 20s or 30s, was crossing San Fernando Road in the middle of a block when the series of ruthless collisions occurred. Witnesses and security camera footage provided by Amgad Khalil, a local business owner, painted a grim picture of the night’s events.

The initial collision took place when a light-colored pickup truck, traveling in the wrong direction, struck the pedestrian, violently knocking him to the ground. Khalil, who witnessed the incident on his security camera, recalled the victim’s desperate attempt to get up, saying, “He was breathing. He was trying to get up.”

Tragically, before the pedestrian could regain his balance, a sizable SUV, also moving in the wrong direction, delivered a second powerful blow. The force of this impact propelled the victim into the southbound lanes of the road, where he met his fatal end, run over by a midsize SUV in the third and fatal collision.
