Donald Trump emerged as the preferred candidate in Georgia, obtaining the support of 45% of surveyed registered voters between January 3 and 11.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Georgia recently conducted a poll.
On the flip side, the survey revealed that President Joe Biden secured the support of 37% of respondents, marking a contrast in the poll results. The survey also shed light on a notable segment of voters who remain undecided or are considering alternative options.
Seven percent of respondents expressed a preference for another candidate, 6% remained uncertain about their choice, and an additional 6% indicated they had no intention of voting in the upcoming election.
This recent poll follows a November survey where Trump and Biden were nearly tied at 45% to 44%, targeting individuals with a voting history who confirmed their intent to participate in the 2024 elections.
Trump Takes the Lead
The release of this poll coincides with Donald Trump’s recent triumph in the Iowa Republican caucuses, where he not only emerged victorious but also established a considerable lead over his competitors. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis claimed the second position, and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley secured third place.
Trump now holds 20 delegates, while DeSantis and Haley have eight and three delegates, respectively.
Despite facing legal challenges and court cases, Trump maintains a resilient position as the leading candidate for the 2024 election. As of January 16, FiveThirtyEight.com reports that he commands 60% of the vote among all primary candidates.
Morning Consult also echoes this sentiment, with a 69% approval rating for Trump in the context of the upcoming election.
These poll results offer a snapshot of the shifting dynamics and early indicators for the upcoming presidential race in 2024 as the political landscape continues to evolve.
