Trump intensifies efforts to sideline Nikki Haley in the GOP primary, issuing a preemptive disinvitation to her supporters from the MAGA camp.
In a Wednesday night social media post, Trump made it clear that he would not accept funds from donors backing Haley’s campaign, stating unequivocally that they are unwelcome in the MAGA movement.
Trump vowed to put the interests of America first, saying that “anybody that makes a ‘Contribution’ to Birdbrain, from this moment forth, will be permanently barred from the MAGA camp.”
His statement came hot on the heels of his decisive victory in New Hampshire, where he triumphed over Haley for the second time, despite her garnering support from prominent GOP donors.
Calls for Haley to exit the race and throw her support behind Trump have been persistent from the former president and his allies, but Haley remains resolute. Despite her setback in the Granite State, she vowed to persist in challenging Trump for the GOP nomination.
Trump’s Unclear Position on Contribution Prohibition
Haley revealed during a rally in South Carolina that her campaign had received $1 million in donations, the most of which were small amounts, since the previous evening, demonstrating the overwhelming support of the local community.
Trump’s declaration, however, lacked clarity on the strategy or mechanisms to enforce the prohibition of contributions to Haley’s campaign. He did not provide specifics on how he intends to ensure compliance with the restriction on donors aligned with Nikki Haley.
Nevertheless, Haley responded defiantly to Trump’s order, urging supporters to donate and rallying her base on the social networking site X.
In the face of Trump’s attempts to sideline her, Haley remains undeterred, pressing forward with her campaign and rallying support from grassroots donors across the nation.
As the GOP primary race continues to unfold, the clash between Trump and Haley underscores the deep divisions within the party and the battle for its future direction.
