FBI Takes Down Alleged Militia Sniper Plotting Assault at Southern Border

The FBI’s arrest of Paul Faye Sr. has revealed a troubling scheme that the self-described militia sharpshooter is said to have concocted. 

Faye, accused of attempting to sell an unregistered suppressor for an AK-47 to an undercover agent, now faces charges related to possession of illegal firearms and explosives, as well as planning a violent attack on individuals at the southern border.

The criminal complaint, filed on February 2, outlines a series of interactions between Faye and undercover FBI agents, revealing his purported intentions. According to the complaint, Faye expressed beliefs that the federal government was complicit in allowing illegal immigration for its own benefit.

In a meeting with undercover agents in December, Faye divulged plans of collaborating with militia groups from several states to transport explosives to the border. He spoke of provoking chaos and boasted of his role as a sniper, claiming he would be positioned to eliminate anyone deemed a threat.

FBI’s Vigilance Against Extremism

During a visit to Faye’s residence in January, undercover agents were confronted with a cache of weapons, including various firearms and explosives. Described as a war room, Faye’s arsenal underscored the seriousness of his alleged intentions.

The arrest of Faye comes amidst heightened tensions surrounding immigration along the southern border. Loosely organized groups, such as God’s Army, have emerged, rallying supporters to take action against migrants. With over 4,600 followers on Telegram, such groups pose a concerning challenge to authorities tasked with maintaining order and upholding the law.

The case of Paul Faye Sr. serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by individuals motivated by extremist ideologies. It underscores the importance of vigilant law enforcement
