FBI Informant Faces Charges for False Claims Linking Biden to Ukrainian Energy Company

The FBI informant Alexander Smirnov is accused of lying about the relationship between President Joe Biden, his son Hunter, and Burisma, which is a surprise turn of events.

The charges were filed by Justice Department special counsel David Wiess, who is concurrently pursuing separate charges against Hunter Biden for firearm and tax violations.

According to prosecutors, Smirnov misled FBI agents in June 2020 by claiming that executives linked to Burisma had paid both Hunter and Joe Biden a substantial sum of $5 million each in 2015 and 2016. 

The informant went further to assert that a Burisma executive had purportedly hired Hunter Biden to protect us, through his dad, from all kinds of problems.

These explosive allegations quickly became a focal point in Congress over the summer, with Republicans pressuring the FBI to release an unredacted form documenting the claims as they intensified investigations into the Biden family. However, even at the time, there was uncertainty about the veracity of the allegations.

The 43-year-old informant is anticipated to make his first court appearance in Las Vegas, where he was apprehended upon his arrival from overseas on Wednesday. This development adds a layer of complexity to the ongoing legal challenges faced by the Biden family. 

Hunter Biden, the President’s son, is already dealing with separate charges related to firearms and tax violations.
