A strange and unanticipated development saw a bunch of unlikely robbers, raccoons, intercepting a Florida woman named Caterina Sevares’ late-night DoorDash order.
Sevares, residing in West Palm Beach, was taken aback when she opened her front door around 2:30 am on Tuesday, expecting her Talkin’ Tacos delivery, only to come face to face with a pack of masked bandits feasting on her meal.
According to Sevares, the raccoons had devoured everything in her order except for the tortillas, leaving her astounded by the surreal encounter.
Sevares described how one raccoon even stood on its hind legs and peered at her, filming the whole thing on her phone before scurrying back inside. Sevares said, underlining her hesitation to face the animals, “Once they started hissing, I shut the door so fast. I was like, ‘They can have the carne asada, it’s fine.”
Sevares lives on the second story of her apartment building, which adds to the oddities of the Florida situation. This led her to surmise that the raccoons and his whole entourage had been there, waiting to target the DoorDash delivery.
Florida’s Raccoon Raider Virality
The food had been left unattended outside her door for approximately 10 minutes, a consequence of her being in the shower and the delivery arriving sooner than expected.
Sevares shared the video of the encounter on TikTok, which quickly gained attention and caught the eye of Talkin’ Tacos.
The taco spot shared the viral video on their Instagram page, humorously captioning it Taco thieves on the loose! In a gesture of goodwill, Talkin’ Tacos offered Sevares a gift card and complimentary tacos to compensate for the inconvenience.
Unfortunately for Sevares, with no other nearby restaurants open at the time of the incident, she was unable to reorder her meal.
Nevertheless, the peculiar incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of urban wildlife encounters and the unexpected challenges of late-night food delivery in Florida.
