The Vegas Golden Knights suffer a major blow as star forward Mark Stone is confirmed out with an upper-body injury by GM Kelly McCrimmon on The Sick Podcast The Eye Test.

The extended duration of Stone’s absence is anticipated to have a negative impact on the team’s offensive capabilities, posing a challenge to their scoring prowess.

The injury occurred during Tuesday night’s game against the Nashville Predators when Stone received a hefty hit from Yakov Trenin, resulting in an interference penalty for Trenin.

Stone’s impact on the Golden Knights’ offense has been substantial this season, leading the team in scoring with 16 goals and 53 points in 56 games. This injury is reminiscent of previous seasons for Stone, who has faced upper-body injuries during the latter half of the season in consecutive years.

Despite his consistent productivity, these injuries have sidelined him for extended periods, landing him on the injured reserve list. The Golden Knights are hopeful that history doesn’t repeat itself, with Stone managing to stay off the IR thus far.

In the absence of Mark Stone, the Golden Knights will turn their attention to the impending return of Jack Eichel, who has been sidelined since January 11th due to a knee injury.

Eichel’s move to long-term injured reserve is set to conclude soon, making him eligible to return once fully recovered. Eichel has been a key offensive contributor for Vegas, boasting 19 goals and 44 points in 42 games this season.

Despite Eichel’s own history of injury setbacks, the Golden Knights are banking on his return to bolster their offensive prowess. With 26 games remaining in the season, Eichel aims to surpass his game count from the previous season, provided he returns promptly.

As the Golden Knights navigate through the challenges of injuries to key players, their depth and resilience will be put to the test in the quest for success in the remainder of the season.
