Golden State Warriors’ forward Draymond Green didn’t shy away from taking responsibility for his team’s disappointing loss to the Denver Nuggets.
Despite a strong start from teammate Klay Thompson, the Warriors fell short, and Green acknowledged his role in the outcome.
During the latest episode of the Draymond Green Show podcast, recorded after Sunday’s game and released on Monday, Green admitted his failure to ensure Thompson received enough opportunities in the second half.
Despite Thompson’s explosive start with 23 points in the first half, he went scoreless in the latter half, leaving the Warriors struggling for offensive consistency.
Green acknowledged the challenge of adjusting to Thompson’s move to the bench and pledged to prioritize getting him more involved, especially when he’s hot. However, even with increased focus on Thompson, the Warriors couldn’t overcome the dominating performance of Nuggets’ center Nikola Jokić.
Draymond Green’s Redemption
Jokić presented Green and the Warriors defense with a formidable test with his 32 points, 16 assists, and 16 rebounds. Green acknowledged that his attempts were insufficient to counter Jokić’s unrelenting play.
The loss marked the Warriors’ fourth defeat against the Nuggets in the 2023-24 NBA season, highlighting their struggles against a formidable opponent. Nevertheless, Green maintained a positive outlook, choosing to view the setback as motivation to bounce back stronger.
Looking ahead, Green emphasized the team’s determination to move past the defeat and focus on upcoming games, particularly their matchup against the Washington Wizards.
With the Warriors’ playoff aspirations in sight, every game holds significance as they aim to secure a favorable seeding in the competitive Western Conference.
As they prepare to face the Wizards, Draymond Green will have an opportunity to redeem himself and contribute to his team’s success on the court. With the race for playoff positioning intensifying, the Warriors understand the importance of each game and remain committed to their goal of returning to the winning track.
