Brandon Dixon Announces Retirement from Baseball After a Decade in the Pros

The baseball player Brandon Dixon has announced his retirement from the game following a ten-year career in professional baseball. 

The 32-year-old, who spent parts of five major league seasons, including stints with the Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers, and San Diego Padres, reflected on his career with gratitude and fond memories.

Dixon, a right-handed hitter, was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the third round in 2013. His path to the majors included a trade to the Reds as part of a three-team deal that sent Todd Frazier to the Chicago White Sox. (https://www.hanakaimaui.com)  

When Dixon joined the Cincinnati Reds in 2018, he made his major league debut and displayed his ability throughout the course of 74 games in his rookie campaign.

The pinnacle of Dixon’s career came during his time with the Tigers in 2019, where he enjoyed a standout season, hitting .248 with 15 home runs over a career-high 420 plate appearances

Despite his contributions, Dixon found himself on the move again after being placed on outright waivers by Detroit.

Brandon Dixon ventured overseas to Japan, spending a season with the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles before returning to the affiliated ranks with the Padres. His tenure with San Diego saw him called up to the majors at the end of the 2022 campaign and early in 2023, where he continued to demonstrate his dedication to the game.

Throughout his career, Brandon Dixon showcased his versatility and offensive prowess, finishing with a .224 batting average, 22 home runs, and 32 doubles in the major leagues. 

With an outstanding slash line of.286/.349/.518 across more than 1100 plate appearances, he demonstrated that he was a reliable player in Triple-A, demonstrating his influence outside of the major leagues.
