The Toronto Raptors faced a significant setback in their recent matchup against the Golden State Warriors, with rising star Scottie Barnes suffering a broken left hand.

The injury occurred during the Raptors’ 120-105 loss at Scotiabank Arena, leaving Barnes sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Barnes fractured the third metacarpal bone in his left hand, an injury that occurred late in the second quarter when his hand was accidentally kicked by teammate Immanuel Quickley during defensive play.

The immediate reaction of pain was evident as Barnes grabbed for his injured hand, necessitating his substitution just before halftime.

Despite his abbreviated playing time, Barnes managed to contribute 10 points and six assists before exiting the game. This injury comes at a particularly unfortunate time for Barnes, who had been enjoying a stellar season, averaging career-high numbers across multiple categories.

The 22-year-old forward had earned his first All-Star nod and was a crucial component of the Raptors’ lineup. In Barnes’ absence, the Raptors faced a formidable challenge against the Warriors, who capitalized on Toronto’s weakened defense to secure a 15-point victory.
