Seattle is poised to welcome an expansion franchise in the near future, a development anticipated following the extensive renovations of Climate Pledge Arena, formerly known as KeyArena, where the SuperSonics once called home from 1967 to 2008.

Spencer Haywood, a revered figure in the team’s history, has disclosed to HoopsHype that he has engaged in regular discussions with Kevin Durant regarding a potential return to the Pacific Northwest once the expansion team is officially established.

Haywood stated, “There’s some sneaky stuff going on that I can’t talk about because it’s private. But I wouldn’t be surprised if I see him in a Sonics uniform (again).”

Selected as the #2 overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft by Seattle, Durant made an immediate impact, earning Rookie of the Year honors after averaging over 20 points per game during his tenure with the Sonics.
