Virginia Tech’s women’s basketball team is facing a significant setback as star player Liz Kitley will be sidelined for the upcoming ACC tournament.

The announcement came from head coach Kenny Brooks during the pre-game show on the Virginia Tech Sports Network, ahead of the team’s matchup against Miami.

Kitley, a standout performer and three-time ACC Player of the Year, sustained an injury during the team’s final regular-season game.

Although details about the injury weren’t disclosed, it was described as a non-contact injury. Despite briefly returning to the bench after the incident, Kitley did not re-enter the game. Her absence from Friday’s warmups, coupled with not being in uniform, indicates the severity of her condition.

Virginia Tech’s women’s basketball team is facing a significant setback as star player Liz Kitley will be sidelined for the upcoming ACC tournament.

The loss of Kitley is undoubtedly a significant blow to the Hokies’ aspirations in the ACC tournament.

The statistics alone underline her indispensable role on the team: she currently leads Virginia Tech in scoring with an impressive 22.8 points per game, ranks first in rebounds with 11.4 per game, and tops the charts in blocks, averaging 2.1 per game.

Her absence leaves a considerable void in both offensive and defensive capabilities for the team.

Without her, the team will need to rally together and adapt their strategies to compensate for her absence.

Facing the ACC Tournament Without Liz Kitley

The timing of Kitley’s injury adds another layer of challenge for Virginia Tech as they gear up for postseason play.

With the ACC tournament looming, the team will have to quickly adjust to a new dynamic without one of their key players. Additionally, Kitley’s condition will be closely monitored, with a reevaluation scheduled after the tournament.

As Virginia Tech prepares to navigate the challenges ahead, Coach Kenny Brooks and the rest of the team will need to tap into their depth and resilience.

While Kitley’s absence presents a formidable obstacle, it also offers an opportunity for other players to step up and showcase their abilities.

The Hokies will undoubtedly miss Kitley’s presence on the court, but they remain determined to compete fiercely and represent their university with pride in the upcoming ACC tournament.
