Jonathan Owens Bids Farewell to Packers Following Bears Signing

After spending only a year with the Green Bay Packers, Jonathan Owens has decided to part ways with the team.

He has opted for a more advantageous opportunity in NFL Free Agency with the Chicago Bears, seizing the chance presented to him.

He and his wife, Simone Biles, are now transitioning to the rival team, which holds offseason aspirations of drafting Caleb Williams.

However, Owens has made sure to express his sincere appreciation to Matt LaFleur, the fans, and the entirety of the organization before his departure.

Jonathan Owens is set to join the NFC North rivals of the Packers, but it appears that there is little animosity between him and his former organization.

He expressed gratitude for the opportunity provided by the Packers and the warm reception from Packer nation on his social media account.

“In appreciation, I extend my thanks to the Packers for the opportunity and to Packer nation for embracing me and my wife. Our time in GB will always hold a special place,” Owens stated.

He has signed a contract with the Bears for a duration of two years, indicating that he will compete against the Packers in a minimum of four games, barring any injuries or strategic considerations.

Although the decision comes as a surprise, Simone Biles, Owens’ wife, is eagerly anticipating the NFL Free Agency, as it eliminates the need for her to take connecting flights to watch him play.

Owens Steps Up as Key Player for Green Bay

The Bears and the Packers have a fierce rivalry, meeting twice a year because they are in the NFC North division.

Owens emerged as a crucial starter for Green Bay from Week 7 onwards last season, playing a significant role in supporting a youthful defense while Darnell Savage dealt with injuries.

However, the Packers were evidently dissatisfied with how their safeties played. Both Savage and Owens have been allowed to leave in free agency.

Xavier McKinney was signed to a substantial contract to take their place.
