Kentucky Hires Winning Coach  Kenny  Brooks to Revamp Women’s Basketball Program

The head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats women’s basketball team will be Kenny Brooks, the well-known visionary behind Virginia Tech’s amazing turnaround in women’s basketball. 

This announcement has shocked the collegiate basketball community. A press release from Virginia Tech verified the announcement, which ushers in a new era for Brooks and the Wildcats.

Under his direction, the Hokies achieved unprecedented success and solidified their standing as the top team in collegiate basketball.

Whit Babcock, the Virginia Tech director of sports, praised Brooks for his achievements in bringing back the women’s basketball team in light of his revolutionary influence. 

Babcock praised Brooks’ contribution to fostering an excellence-driven culture both on and off the court, saying, “We hired Kenny in 2016 with the intention of revitalizing our women’s basketball program.” 

He also thanked Brooks for his guidance and representation at the university and wished him well in his upcoming pursuits.

After a dismal season, the Wildcats fired head coach Kyra Elzy and went through a trying period before choosing to hire Brooks. 

Kentucky, in desperate need of rejuvenation after two years of defeat, is looking to Brooks to lead them on a road to atonement and rebirth.

Brooks’ Coaching Brilliance

Brooks comes to his appointment with a plethora of experience and a solid resume. He took Virginia Tech to unprecedented heights during his tenure, leading the team to four straight NCAA Tournament bids and its first-ever Final Four participation the previous season. 

Among his amazing accomplishments is his 180-82 record, which he set a record with 31 victories in the 2022–2023 campaign.

Brooks leaves a legacy of outstanding play that includes seven seasons with 20 victories and a solid basis for future success, even though Virginia Tech was just eliminated from the NCAA Tournament by Baylor. 

With a 25-5 (14-4 ACC) record at the end of the season, Brooks leaves Virginia Tech well-positioned for future success.
