The fierce edge-rusher Jadeveon Clowney, a former top choice of the Houston Texans in the 2014 NFL Draft, has joined the Carolina Panthers.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Panthers made a big statement in free agency by landing Clowney with a potentially lucrative two-year, $20 million contract, worth up to $24 million.
With 43 tackles, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and a career-high 9.5 sacks while playing for the Ravens in 2023, Clowney had an outstanding season that culminated with his acquisition. One of the most sought-after players in the free-agent market, he certainly delivered a memorable performance.
The chance to go back home to South Carolina was too much to pass up, even though Clowney had drawn interest from a number of teams, including the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens.
Originating in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Clowney joins the Panthers to become the second player, after former teammate Stephon Gilmore, to wear the Panthers uniform from South Pointe High School.
