PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA – SEPTEMBER 18: Nick Chubb #24 of the Cleveland Browns is carted off the field after sustaining a knee injury during the second quarter against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium on September 18, 2023 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

There were those who believed that the Browns might consider parting ways with Chubb during the offseason, but ultimately they decided to retain him.

When questioned about Chubb this week, Berry mentioned that the halfback is making good progress but is uncertain about what lies ahead for him.

“Honestly, it’s likely still too early to fully grasp his future appearance,” Berry stated this week during the NFL’s Annual League Meeting, as reported by The Akron Beacon Journal. “He’s making excellent progress with the rehab and is expected to begin running with added weight in the near future.”

Berry mentioned that it will take some time for Cleveland to accurately assess Chubb’s current situation.

“In my opinion, the upcoming months will provide valuable insights into his preparedness for the early part of the season,” Berry commented, hinting at the significance of the next three months. “Our assessment of building the roster will be cautious due to his recent major knee injury.” However, I must acknowledge that he deserves a great deal of credit. He has done an excellent job.

Berry mentioned that he will provide a more precise answer closer to the NFL Draft, which begins at the end of next month.

Chubb’s Pro Bowl Streak and Impact on Browns

Chubb, a former player at the University of Georgia, was chosen by the Browns in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He achieved an impressive feat by earning four consecutive trips to the Pro Bowl from 2019 to 2022, consistently surpassing 1,000 yards each season.

In 2022, he had an exceptional year, rushing for an impressive 1,527 yards and scoring 12 touchdowns.

Chubb’s presence in Cleveland’s offense has been crucial, and his return to top form in 2024 would greatly benefit the Browns, who face tough competition in the AFC North division.

Last year, Cleveland had a record of 11-6 and unfortunately, they were eliminated in the wild-card round of the playoffs.
