Gavin Newsom’s cafe offers $16 wage:
Republican State Representative Joe Patterson shared screenshots of the PlumpJack Café website, owned by the PlumpJack Group and created by Newsom. Although the new regulation applies to food establishments that are part of a chain of 60 or more nationally and provide limited or no table service, Patterson asked: I’m curious why @CAgovernor @GavinNewson food companies don’t pay $20 per hour. Live job posting in Olympic Valley paying $16 per hour. It’s costly to live there…but he doesn’t do what he says and doesn’t pay a fair income.

The ad appeared on the ZipRecruiter website. It states that the employee will be paid $16 an hour. Their primary role is to “assist the food server in the restaurant to ensure guest satisfaction during all aspects of the dining experience.” They will also be asked to “clear dishes as needed from tables on time,” “prepare coffee as directed” or “support bartenders in stocking, cleaning, and organizing the bar as directed.” According to the PlumpJack Group’s official website, “In 1992, Gavin Newsom opened his first business, PlumpJack Wines, combining his passion for wine and driving entrepreneurial spirit.”
