RHOC Alum Lauri Peterson’s Son Josh Waring Died

Josh Waring passed away on March 31st, the son of Lauri Peterson. His age was 35.

With the caption, “It is with a smashed heart that I write this post to let you know that my dear Josh left this life on Easter Sunday,” the 63-year-old Real Housewives of Orange County alumnus revealed his passing on Instagram on April 6.

Josh Waring, the son of former “Real Housewives of Orange County” star Lauri Peterson, passed away. He was thirty-five.

The 63-year-old reality TV star broke the news of her son’s passing on Saturday on Instagram in an emotional message.

“I write this post with a broken heart to let you know that my sweet Josh left this earth on Easter Sunday,” Peterson wrote, accompanied by a slideshow of pictures showing Waring at various points in his life.

Nobody can ever adequately prepare you for this sense of profound loss, she went on. Every molecule in my body aches. Josh battled daily for his life for most of his adulthood, but on Sunday, the obstacle became too large.”

Josh’s Childhood Life:

“Josh had a rich childhood full of deep intelligence, humor, antics, sports, bodyboarding, snowboarding, hiking in the mountains, reading, friends, and music.” Josh remained cheerful, courteous, and humorous while facing adult hardships. He also spoke up for people who couldn’t stand up for themselves and showed unwavering love for his family.”

Drawing on Waring’s unique bond with his daughter Kennady, Peterson said he “received the most joy, pride, and purpose” from seeing his daughter “grow and thrive over the years.”

She also thanked everyone who had reached out to assist Waring during his battle with drug addiction.

“Thank you to all of the people who have tried to help Josh along the way,” Peterson said in a note. “I have seen a great deal of angels here on Earth. You have changed his life, and although not everyone can relate to individuals with drug misuse disorders, I will always be appreciative of your compassion and understanding.”

“I also thank those who have stood by me through this journey and offered kind words of a call by sharing their stories of living with addiction to drugs and the many parents who have discussed their stories over the years with me about the kids they have sadly lost due to this illness,” she added.

“Josh, I shall miss you and love you very much! Your “Mama Bear & Mama Dukes” will always be me, and I will always be waiting for your call at 11:11 to tell me to make a wish! What do I want right now?”

“I hope you’ve found the tranquility you so well deserve. My heart is with you. You’ve finally earned your release, lovely kid, and heaven has gotten the cutest angel. Peterson concluded her message with, “Love always and forever, Mom.”

Peterson Personal Life:

Sophia is the daughter of Peterson’s ex-husband, Phillip Waring, with whom she had a home in Waring. Ashley, the ex-model’s daughter, and Howard Zarlin are also parents.

The former reality star wed George Peterson at the third season finale of “The Real Housewives of Orange County.” Peterson starred in the sitcom with Kimberly Bryant, Jo De La Rosa, and Jeana Keough as part of its original cast.

From 2006 to 2008, Peterson was a regular cast member for the show’s first four seasons. Later seasons saw her return for cameo roles.

Co-stars and friends Condolences:

Following the announcement of her son’s death on Instagram, friends and former co-stars showered Peterson with sympathetic messages.

“Oh, Laurie, how much my heart hurts for you. “‘RHOC’ alum Gretchen Rossi responded, “I know how much you battled for him and always wanted nothing but the best for him,” accompanied by a red heart emoji.

Rossi said, “May the Lord strengthen you throughout this tough loss and surround you with his angels. My buddy, you are loved.”

“I understand how hard you fought to be his advocate; thus, my heart hurts for you. Hugs and prayers during this difficult time for your family, Keough, a former castmate of Peterson’s, said.

“Lauri,” I apologize. This breaks my heart. “You made a great effort to save Josh, and by telling his story, you will educate people everywhere about the tragedy of addiction for those affected by it,” wrote executive producer Andy Cohen of “Real Housewives.”

“Remember how fortunate he was to have a mother who never gave up. “RIP,” said Heather McDonald, a former cast member of “RHOC.”

De La Rosa wrote, “Lauri, I’m so sorry.” “I’m praying for your heart and sending you all my love. Here to help if needed.”

In 2008, Peterson informed the Orange County News that she decided to leave the program to spend more time with her family throughout Waring’s legal issues and addiction. Kennady, Waring’s daughter, was adopted by Peterson and George in 2015, as the former reality star informed Bravo’s “The Daily Dish.”

Following an arrest in 2016, Waring served four years in jail for attempted murder before accepting a plea agreement in 2020.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Waring was taken into custody in June 2016 following an alleged shooting incident in Costa Mesa, California, during which he was involved in a car pursuit with law enforcement. At first, he entered a not-guilty plea.

Waring pled admission to narcotics charges in 2022 and was given a two-year jail sentence, according to the LA Times. The site said that Waring had been discovered in possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl.
