Dylan Rounds Missing Utah:
On Tuesday, the bones of a 19-year-old farmer who disappeared during Memorial Day weekend in 2022 were reportedly found in a rural part of Utah. In a small desert village close to the Utah-Nevada border, Dylan Rounds’ neighbour, James Brenner, 60, is accused of killing him. Brenner had been living in a trailer adjacent to the teen’s property.
According to a statement from the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office (BECOSO), “skeletal remains presumed to belong to Dylan Rounds were recovered in the remote western Box Elder County area of Lucin on April 9, 2024.”
As part of a plea agreement, Brenner took detectives to Rounds’ grave, the East Idaho News said.
The source was informed by Rounds’ mother, Candice Cooley, “We thank everyone for their support and love.” “We are happy to have Dylan’s body now so we can reunite him with his family and carry on the fight for justice.”
After being accused of Rounds’ killing last year and being arrested for weapons offences, the alleged killer has been detained in prison since June 2022.
Brenner was charged in March 2023 with two crimes, Aggravated Murder, and Abuse or Desecration of a Human Body. The BECSO made this announcement.
Brenner and another local were regarded as Rounds’ “family friends.” They were squatting on property about five miles away from the teen’s farm, according to court records that Fox News was able to get.
According to the site, Rounds last spoke with his grandma on the phone on May 30, telling her he was “putting the grain truck into shelter.”
The property Brenner was squatting on was next to the shelter, which was situated on a portion of land owned by Box Elder Land and Livestock.
The sheriff’s office described Brenner’s arrest on March 3, 2023, as the result of a “difficult and extensive nine-month investigation.”
During the first search for the missing adolescent, a missing grain truck and a pair of bloodied boots were discovered; a DNA investigation matched Rounds’ to the shoes, according to KSL.com.
Due to his criminal past, Brenner was in unlawful possession of many firearms, which were retrieved from his property by county officials and the FBI throughout the inquiry.
Additionally, it was found that Brenner had requested the second resident to keep the guns “for his safety” and that “he did not want the things he had left to be retaken, since the last time he had trouble with the law, they took everything from him.”
Investigation:
Following their interviews with both men, investigators searched Brenner’s trailer many times under search warrants.
Brenner was taken into custody along with a muzzleloader, multiple boxes of lead ball ammo in various calibres, ignition caps, four pounds of Hornady black powder, speed loads, and a Winchester Model 69 rifle in.22 calibre.
Rounds’ phone records, which showed movement on the property close to Brenner’s squatting spot, were also acquired by the investigators.
After that, Rounds’ phone was located next to a Lucin pond. There, investigators discovered a time-lapse video on the phone that showed Brenner cleaning his rifle while covered in blood on his shirt and arms, as previously reported by KSL.com, which also included Brenner’s accusations.
According to the source, investigators connected Rounds to the teen’s abduction after discovering his DNA on Brenner’s bloodied clothing.
Before Rounds’ death was found, court records acquired by KSL.com claimed, “Brenner was interviewed and made several claims that corroborated the forensic evidence in addition to delivering numerous demonstrably false statements.”
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Dylan Rounds’ family,” the BECSO said in a statement.
We extend our deepest sympathies for their family member’s passing. We acknowledge the unbearable anguish they must be experiencing as a result of their loss and want to extend our deepest condolences to them. Our prayer is that they will be able to go on in peace.
