Missing Independence Township mom found dead in Oakland County
An Independence Township woman who had been missing since the weekend was tragically found deceased, as confirmed by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. Lacie Nicole Santia, 38, was discovered by deputies on Monday afternoon in Waterford Oaks County Park. Sheriff Michael Bouchard mentioned, “There appears to be no foul play, but we are thoroughly investigating to ensure all aspects are considered. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.”
The sheriff’s office had sought the public’s help on Sunday to locate Santia after her unoccupied vehicle was found on Saturday in the Waterford Oaks County Park parking lot with the keys in the ignition. Concerned about her emotional state, her family reported her missing at 2 a.m. on Saturday.
Santia, a mother of two, operated a concession stand at St. Mary’s Orchard Lake Ice Arena with her husband, Marco, as shared by friends in a tribute on Facebook. Her father-in-law owns Gino’s Pizzeria and Restaurant in Keego Harbor and provided updates on the business’ Facebook page.
Friends and family from Waterford Township and Keego Harbor came together to organize a search party at Waterford Oaks on Monday, involving the Sheriff’s Office Drone Unit, search and rescue team, K-9 unit, aviation unit, as well as assistance from Waterford Township police, U.S. Border Patrol, and Metroparks Police Search and Rescue Team. The search was suspended around 1:45 p.m. after Santia was located.
