Man killed in Yuba County shooting, suspect in custody after pursuit

A man was shot and killed in Marysville on Thursday, and the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office caught the suspect after a police chase. The incident occurred at around 3:15 p.m. on Remington Way.

A neighbor heard gunshots and cries for help, and upon checking, found the victim had been shot. The injured man was rushed to Rideout Hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries, as reported by the sheriff’s office.

The suspect, identified as 45-year-old Sunny Bavra, was apprehended in connection with the shooting. Witnesses provided a description of the suspect and his vehicle. Deputies located Bavra, who attempted to flee, leading to a 10-minute police pursuit.

The chase ended when Bavra crashed near Erle Road, east of Griffith Avenue, and was taken into custody. Bavra is now in custody at Yuba County Jail facing charges of homicide, felony evading, and multiple weapon offenses, according to the sheriff’s office.

The authorities have not disclosed the circumstances that led to the shooting.
