Who Are Jalen Brunson Parents?

Jalen Brunson’s father, Rick Brunson, is a former NBA player who now coaches in the league. After gaining a lot of experience in the CBA and NBA during his playing career, Rick helped mold his son Jalen into the basketball star he is today. Jalen was nine years old when his father retired from the league and decided to pursue a coaching career. 

Therefore, the Brunson family had to move locations regularly due to Rick’s duties as a basketball player. It was only in 2010, when they moved to Lincolnshire, Illinois, that they finally had a permanent home. By then, Jalen Brunson was already a high school student and was ready to represent his school after training with his father. 

Fast forward 12 years and Jalen has evolved into a solid player in the NBA while Rick has advanced in his coaching career. The father-son duo is now representing the New York Knicks. Both joined the organization in 2022 and seem to be having a successful run with the team so far. 

Rick was born in Syracuse, New York and attended Salem High School. He graduated from Temple University, but went undrafted in 1955. He was eventually signed as a free agent by the Portland Trail Blazers in 1997-98.

Brunson signed with the New York Knicks, and was a part of the team that won the 1999 Eastern Conference championship. AFter stints with the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Clippers, and Seattle SuperSonics, he was signed by the Houston Rockets, where he ended his playing career. 

Furthermore, Sandra Brunson is Jalen Brunson’s mother. She is a former athlete herself. She used to play volleyball at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. She gained a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Temple University. Currently, she is a Litigation Paralegal at Camping World and Good Sam Club. 

Sandra Brunson is her son’s biggest supporter, adviser and best friend. She loves spending time with her family.
