The Family of the Australian Brothers Who Went Missing in Mexico

The worst news has been delivered to the family following a frantic search for two Australian brothers who went missing while vacationing in Mexico for surfing with an American buddy.

Missing Aussie brothers who disappeared in Mexico:

Authorities have verified that the three remains discovered in northwest Mexico are those of two Australian brothers and their American buddy who disappeared while surfing, according to the brothers’ family.

While camping in the infamous state of Baja California, friends Jack Carter Rhoad, 30, an American, and Jake and Callum Robinson, 30 and 33, both from Perth, were reported missing last week.

Over the weekend, four bodies—including theirs—were discovered 15 meters below a concealed well that was close to the trio’s final known encampment.

“The remains recovered in the well in the location known as La Bocana, south of Ensenada, correspond to Jake and Callum (Robinson), of Australian descent, as well as the American (Jack) Carter,” officials stated in a statement issued on Monday afternoon. The state prosecutor’s office confirmed this.

“Without genetic testing, confirmation is obtained once the victims’ relatives can identify them.”

Maria Elena Andrade Ramirez, the attorney general for Baja California, stated earlier on Monday that it was thought the men were shot in the head while thwarting a robbery.

Murder Investigation:

Nearly a week after the victims were found in the well on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Ms. Andrade Ramirez said a murder investigation was under progress.

Three individuals have been accused of crimes similar to abduction.

“The assailants passed by in their car,” Ms. Andrade Ramirez stated.

“They came over intending to take their car and put the tires and other components on the older-model pickup they were driving.”Naturally, the victims struggled when they were confronted and apprehended.

“And these people, the attackers, pulled out a gun and killed the person attempting to stop the car theft first. Then other people joined the fight to protect their property, and their attacked companion, and they also killed them.”

The remains were located next to the burned-out vehicle that the three had rented.

According to Ms. Andrade Ramirez, it was “literally almost impossible to find” the well where the remains were discovered since it was covered with boards.

Over the last two days, Emily Horwath, Callum Robinson’s partner, has offered several heartfelt tributes to her lover on social media.

Callum was hailed as “one of the most beautiful and loving souls,” according to Ms. Horwath, who also said he was “one of one.”

She said in a post, “I’d give anything for one more koala hug.”

I feel like my heart is broken into a million pieces. I am at a loss for words at the moment.

Strange detail Regarding the Brothers’ Map of Mexico:

One of the Australian brothers’ guilt-stricken friends disclosed that he offered the two a hand-drawn map showing where they would last be spotted.

It coincides with fresh information from Mexican officials on the suspects in the deaths of American buddy Jack Rhoad and twins Jake and Callum Robinson.

Photographer Randy Dible from San Diego is overcome with remorse upon learning of the passing of his friend and neighbor, Callum. Three weeks prior, Dible had informed Callum about his preferred surfing spot in Baja, the serene and breathtaking La Bocana.

Dible sketched Callum a map on a napkin since he was an eager surfer looking for nice areas to surf. He was about to join him but had to back out due to a job opportunity.

“I told him about this place because I’d been traveling through that country for 30 years, so I knew exactly where to go, and I knew it like the back of my hand,” Dible said to The Australian.

“And that’s precisely where he was murdered.”

He claims that a part of him wishes he had made the journey since there’s a chance he could have stopped everything. The thing he regrets most, though, is informing his friend about La Bocana.

“I feel terrible; I wish I hadn’t met him that day. I regret it. It’s only now beginning to sink in.

Hayley Jacobs, a close friend of Callum’s, had mentioned meeting him the morning before he departed for Mexico. But she strongly suspected something was wrong when he didn’t communicate with her during the journey.

She told Nine, “I think he’s mad at me because I didn’t hear from him, and my mum asked me if I heard from them.”

“I don’t know what’s going on, but something doesn’t seem right, so I think he’s mad at me.”

She described her acquaintance as someone who “lit up a room” and genuinely remarkable.

“When we were having dinner at a restaurant, and he asked for the waiter’s name, he would write his name down in his notes and his phone and how he knew how he connected with him,” the woman explained.

“He gave me the notes, and hundreds of people he had met were listed.”

“I don’t know what’s going on, but things don’t seem right, so I think he’s furious at me.”

She said that her acquaintance was extraordinary and that she “lit up a room.”

“When we were having dinner at the eatery, and he asked for the waiter’s name, he would record his name in his diary and his phone and how he knew how he was connected to him,” the lady recounted.

“He gave me the notes, and numbers of people appeared that he had met.”

Three Suspects Arrested:

Zeta Tijuana and Talk Baja, local Spanish-language media outlets, said on Saturday that the authorities had identified the three suspects as Jesús Gerardo Garica Cota (alias El Kekas), his partner Ari Gisel García Cota, and his brother Cristian Alejandro García.

According to authorities, each of them has been charged with a felony similar to abduction. If they will be charged with anything else, it remains unknown.

The Attorney General of Baja California announced earlier on Friday that three Mexican nationals, consisting of two brothers and a 23-year-old woman, had been taken into custody about the disappearances of the surfers. It was purported that upon their arrest, they had been found in possession of illegal drugs and methamphetamines.

According to local media, the female suspect was also seen carrying a phone belonging to one of the Australian brothers.

During the hunt for the missing surfers, a fourth body was discovered nearby on a cliff at Punta San José in Santo Tomás, Ensenada. It is thought to be the ranch owner who had been missing for several weeks. Officials believe there is no connection between his death and the other remains discovered in the well.

The last known location of San Diego residents Callum, Jake, and Mr. Rhoad was Rosarita, in the Baja California area.

According to Zeta and 7News, local authorities discovered an abandoned campground with bloodstains and a tooth, which is thought to be where the guys camped before human remains were found in the well.

The state prosecutor’s office stated, “Other evidence was located, along with a white pickup vehicle.”

It stated that the US Federal Bureau of Inquiry, the Australian consulate, and the US consulates coordinated the inquiry.

While forensic test results are awaited to confirm suspicions, investigators said they are convinced they know who the victims are even though the corpses have not yet been publicly identified.

Speaking about the Australian boys and their buddy, Ms. Ramírez told 9News, “I’m saying it’s a very, very high probability that it is them.”

They were in a condition of disintegration, which is why DNA testing is necessary.

In a social media post, Callum’s team, Stevenson University Lacrosse, stated that the two had passed away.

The club said, “We share the news of our dear friend and teammate, Callum Robinson’s passing with heavy hearts.”

“Callum was a true inspiration to us all, from his days leading us to victory on the field to his unwavering commitment to academic excellence.”

The club highlighted the team’s Division III National Championship in 2013 and Callum’s “equally impressive academic achievements.”

The club stated that Callum would be remembered for his contagious energy, larger-than-life attitude, and accomplishments.

He perfectly personified the moniker “big koala” with his gorgeous long hair and endearing grin; he was kind, amiable, and always willing to offer a helping hand. Callum may be gone, but his memory will always be alive.

“During this trying time, our prayers and thoughts are with his family and loved ones. Calum, you can relax. Though greatly missed, you will always be in our hearts.

The club, its members, and several others disseminated information about the young man’s suspected death, which has not yet been officially confirmed.

As per the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the family will continue to receive consular support.

The disappearance of the boys was called “a concerning situation” by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

He said on Friday on Seven’s Sunrise show, “Our embassy in Mexico is working with local authorities as well to try to ascertain what has happened here.”

“While it is our sincere hope that these brothers are found safely, their disappearance raises serious concerns.”We hope things work out well for their mother, who is quite upset about this.

Baja California is well-known for its surfing, but it has also seen gang violence, notably from the notorious Tijuana cartel.
