Nicole Pelton Ross Middle School Teacher Died by Wrong-Way Crash
The woman who died in a wrong-way crash in West Chester on Sunday evening was a Ross Middle School teacher. Nicole Pelton, 52, was one of three persons killed in Sunday’s crash, along with her husband Patrick Pelton.

According to the Ross Local School District, Nicole has 22 years of experience teaching at Ross Middle School. “Mrs. Pelton was more than simply a teacher; she was a shining light in our school community who was passionate about sharing her love of science. Colleagues described how she had a unique gift for incorporating her passion for science into her lessons and making learning interesting in the classroom. Her energetic approach to teaching piqued her pupils’ interest and excitement, leaving an indelible mark on their academic journey. “Her loss leaves a void that will be deeply felt by students, colleagues, and community members alike,” according to an email issued to district families.
The district’s schools are closed on Tuesday for a conference exchange day, but the middle school will be open from 12 to 2 p.m. with counselors available to assist kids and staff. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. Sunday on Cox Road near Service Center Drive, and traffic was blocked down for several hours. The Butler County Coroner’s Office named the other person killed in the crash as Gregory Meyer, 65, of Middletown. Meyer was driving in the wrong direction when he crashed, according to police. An inquiry into the crash is ongoing.
