What does the investigation Say?

The trio was killed in an apparent carjacking, with the Ensenada medical examiner reporting gunshot wounds to the head as the official cause of death.

The three were initially reported missing on April 27 after failing to return to an Airbnb accommodation. Their remains were discovered in a remote hole 50 feet down in La Bocana, south of Ensenada, along with a fourth victim who had been there longer, according to NBC News. According to a statement, family members were brought in to make the identifications personally.

During a news conference on May 6, prosecutors stated that they believe the carjackers attempted to take the wheels from the surfers’ pickup truck. Authorities said they had three persons in arrest, one of whom had one of the victim’s phones. Two of the suspects were arrested on methamphetamine charges, and the third was wanted for kidnapping. Jake, Callum, and Jack were reportedly attacked while traveling along the Baja shore, with prosecutors claiming they discovered tents, spent rifle shells, and blood spots. Jake and Callum’s mother, Debra Robinson, began actively blogging about her sons after they were reported missing, and she and her husband, Martin, are now grieving their loss.
