What is K P Yohannan Cause of Death?

Moran Mor Athanasius Yohan was hit by a car during his morning stroll in Dallas, Texas, on Tuesday. The 74-year-old prelate was in intensive condition at a hospital in Texas City after the tragedy. Athanasius Yohan, Metropolitan Bishop of the Believers Eastern Church, died of sudden heart arrest at a US hospital after being injured in a car accident, the Church announced on its official Facebook page on Wednesday.

Who is Yohannan Cause of Death?

Born in 1950 to a Mar Thoma Church family in the upper Kuttanad town of Niranom, he joined Operation Mobilization (OM), an evangelical movement, at age 16 and served for eight years.

He later came to the United States in 1974 to pursue theology studies at Criswell College in Dallas, where he received a BA in biblical studies. Yohannan and his wife Gisela founded Gospel for Asia in 1979 and are based in Texas. In 1981, he founded a GFA chapter in Kerala, and in 1983, the organization’s Indian headquarters were established in Tiruvalla. In 1993, he established the Believers Eastern Church as part of the GFA World Apostolate and was ordained bishop in 2003.

The synod, which meets twice to three times yearly to discuss governance issues, is likely to convene soon. The Metropolitan is selected from among its validly consecrated bishops. Athanasius Yohan died, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences. The Prime Minister stated that Athanasius Yohan will be remembered for his contributions to society and efforts to improve people’s level of existence. The official ruling in this matter will be made later on Thursday. The church’s leadership will plan the ceremony in conjunction with family members. “With profound grief and sorrow, we would like to inform you that His Holiness Athanasius Yohan I, our honorable Metropolitan, died in the Lord this evening, May 8, 2024,” it stated. The Synod will make more announcements, as noted.
