The Ramey’s Qwik Stop convenience store on Highway 15 was the target of a response by the Perry County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday following an allegation of an ATM robbery.

According to the authorities, before breaking in and removing the ATM with a truck, the culprit spray-painted the security cameras.

In Vicco, at the Ramey’s gas station, someone had backed up and busted the door in. Sheriff Joe Engle of Perry County said, “They wrapped a rope around the ATM, removed it, stole it, and fled the area.

Officials are hopeful that fresh evidence may result in an arrest as the investigation moves forward.

”We do have some leads, we’ve not arrested at this time. We’ve not developed probable cause yet to make an arrest. We do have some leads we’re checking out in Letcher County that we’re following up on. We’ve collected some evidence, we’ll be sending in samples into the lab to try and match up with the subject. Hopefully, some future charges are pending on them.” added Engle.
