On Saturday May 13, a late-night shooting incident happened at the Alabama Concert in which 3 people are dead and over a dozen individuals are injured.
Authorities reported that the incident occurred during a May Day event in Stockton, Andre Reid with the Baldwin County Investigation Division told WALA-TV. He said the victims ranged in age but were mostly younger.
In the event, nearly 1,000 people were attending a concert on Bryants Landing Road near Yates Lane when gunfire started following an altercation, WKRG reported. While Reid said it’s not clear how many shooters there were, police have one person in custody, and remain unclear about that person’s role.
Investigators are engaged in finding anyone who may have been involved in the incident
The injured were taken to North Baldwin Infirmary in Bay Minette and altercations broke out there after a large crowd had gathered.
Local CBS affiliate WKRG reported that gunfire erupted around 10 p.m. near Stockton. The town of about 550 people sits about 20 miles north of Mobile.
Over a 1,000 people had gathered for a party in the area and most of the victims and attendees were “younger people,” Baldwin County investigator Andre Reid told the outlet. The victims have not been publicly identified.
According to the authorities one suspect has been identified but not arrested. Officers believe there was at least one additional shooter helping the other. Investigators said multiple people were shooting at each other during the incident.
At North Baldwin Infirmary which is seven miles south in the town of Bay Minette, physical altercations erupted at the hospital while victims were treated.
There have now been 153 mass shootings in the U.S. in 2024, according to the Gun Violence Archive, which classifies any shooting with four or more victims as a mass shooting.
Further, the 152nd mass shooting occurred early Saturday morning in Louisville, Ky., when two people were killed and two others wounded at a club. No suspects have been arrested or publicly identified in that case either.
